Chloe and Leah Smith are sisters and members of a group called Rising Appalachia. A group that spans the musical spectrum from old time mountain music to world rhythms.
I met them on Royal St. in the French Quarter. They were in town getting ready to record a new album, their fourth. They were busking on Royal St. and amazing anyone who stopped to listen. Both of them also agreed to pose for a portrait for a photography project called 100Strangers, they are photogenic and extremely talented.
